The licensing fee information alone can be confusing as you still need to know if:Ī.) The license fees already covers the sync rights.Ģ.Art licensing refers to the process of giving permission to use an artist’s artwork for commercial purposes. The same thing will happen in radio based projects.Ģ.) If you are using music for film and TV. Big TV and radio companies are licensed by ASCAP to pay performance royalties. The tricky thing though is that in standard TV and film industry, a producer is required to include the music in the cue sheets. Since the license fee can either be an up-front payment or a continuous payment, you need to ensure or confirm this in the licensing agreement:ġ.) Check if you still need to pay for performance royalties. There are still a lot of factors that you should take note when licensing music. Learn more about this in what is a mechanical license agreement. If you are distributing and selling your video, you also need some mechanical license. These are reasonable price range for licensing indie music projects. For example in YouLicense, the overall licensing fee can range starting from $20 to $150. Based on the data provided, background music can be as high as $500 to as low as $250 dollars. They tend to offer low cost music licensing of their music.ģ.) To have a reasonable cost range if you are licensing music for background and compilation video. The key is to find independent singer/songwriters which are also music publisher at the same time. Read this important music rights for film guide. You can find music as low as $50 for film usage or even less. What is surprising it that if you are film producer and needs low cost licensing for using music. More than that, it can be considered costly based on the sample data. To get the most reasonable price range, you can try the calculator in my license music page to get a quote on including music for radio or television advertisements.Ģ.) To spend around $500 at most to use music in independent films. If you are not familiar with this right, you need to read this post on public performance music license. In this type of campaigns, the music are publicly performed so basically you are using one of the music rights which is the right to public performance. Or if the songwriter/publisher is not affiliated with any societies, you may directly pay to the publisher for the entire amount. Also you will notice that licensee will be paying this high amount to the performing right societies of the music publisher or the songwriter. It implies that on the average, you can expect:ġ.) Advertisement campaigns to cost a lot (as low as $25,000 to $30,000). Note: Below are some sample random data gathered from one of the top music licensing websitesĭifferent music licensing fees for different projects What does this imply to a licensee? Anyway let’s proceed…Īlso observed that the data are coming mostly from indie music licensing websites, so it could also mean that if you are licensing music from major music publishers and major labels, you can expect an entirely different amount of licensing fees (higher). It could be the background of the song (more expensive to license established and popular hit songs) the budget and background of the company licensing the music, etc. Well take note that there are lots of factors behind the costs. Or on the other hand, it will go down as low as $20 for simply leasing for any commercial projects. For example, in the data provided below (see screenshot) you can expect to spend around 30,000 dollars in a single song alone if you need the music for a high end or global ad campaign. The reality is that it varies in budget and licensing cost. If you are wondering how much are the typical music licensing fees and cost for different projects I already did some research for you. The set contains the oldest known ecclesiastical bishop. The pieces come from four different chess sets. 67 Lewis chesspieces are in the British Musueum, the other 11 in the National Musueum. One of the earliest authentic European chesspieces are the Lewis chesspieces, which are now in the British Museum and the National Museum of Antiquites in Edinburgh. Radiocarbon measurements yielded a date of 885 to 1017 AD. The controversy is how to explain how it was possible that chess pieces of Arabic shape were discovered in a tomb of Roman age. The pieces were discovered in a Roman tomb in 1932. It is displayed in the Museo archeologico di Napoli. It was found at Venafro, Italy and is dated about 980 AD. The oldest European chessmen may be some Italian chess pieces made of bone with ivory topping. The four small pieces were made of ivory and preserved in the Mozarabic monastary in Leon, Spain. The Mozarab chess pieces, also known as the pieces of Saint Genadio, may be as old as the beginning of the 10th century. A coin, dated 761 was found with the chesspieces. What was found were seven pieces consisting of a king, chariot, vizier, horse, elephant, and 2 soldiers. The earliest known chesspieces (chatrang) were found at Afrasaib, near Samarkand in Uzbekistan. The piece has a cross on top of it and was found in an old Byzantine or Roman palace. If this is really a chess piece, then it is the oldest chess piece found anywhere in the world. In July 2002, an ivory piece less than 2 inches in size was discovered in Butrint, an ancient Mediterranean city in souther Albania. Countries of the western world translated the earliest names as closely as possible. In Arabic they were shah, firzan, fil, faras, rukhkh, and baidaq. The earliest Persian names were shah, farzin, pil, asp, rukh, and piyada. The king moves two squares towards a rook, and that rook moves to the square at the other side of the king.Ī maneuver in chess which is performed after a player moves a pawn two squares forward from its starting position, and an opposing pawn captures it as if it had only moved one square. The earliest chesspieces from India (the birthplace of chess) were called shah (king), wazir (counsellor), fil (bishop), asp (knight), rukh (rook), and piyade (pawn). When castling, you simultaneously move your king, and one of your rooks. If there is another piece directly in front of a pawn he cannot move past or capture that piece.Ĭastling is a special type of chess move. They can never move or capture backwards. Pawns can only capture one square diagonally in front of them. Pawns can only move forward one square at a time, except for their very first move where they can move forward two squares. Pawns are unusual because they move and capture in different ways: they move forward, but capture diagonally. Knights are also the only pieces that can move over other pieces. Knights move in a very different way from the other pieces – going two squares in one direction, and then one more move at a 90 degree angle, just like the shape of an “L”. Each bishop starts on one color (light or dark) and must always stay on that color. The bishop may move as far as it wants, but only diagonally. The rook may move as far as it wants, but only forward, backward, and to the sides. And, like with all pieces, if the queen captures an opponent's piece her move is over. She can move in any one straight direction - forward, backward, sideways, or diagonally - as far as possible as long as she does not move through any of her own pieces. The king may never move himself into check (where he could be captured). The king can only move one square in any direction - up, down, to the sides, and diagonally. The king is the most important piece, but is one of the weakest. Pieces are generally moved into positions where they can capture other pieces (by landing on their square and then replacing them), defend their own pieces in case of capture, or control important squares in the game. However, they can be moved to take the place of an opponent's piece which is then captured. Pieces cannot move through other pieces (though the knight can jump over other pieces), and can never move onto a square with one of their own pieces. Each of the 6 different kinds of pieces moves differently. The top card on each pile stays facing up, while the others are face-down cards. The first pile would have one card the second one would have two the third pile would have three, and so on. Moreover, it's the version you can find on nearly every Microsoft computer since 1990, further cementing its place in modern culture. How to Play SolitaireĬlassic Solitaire, also known as klondike solitaire, is arguably the most popular form of solitaire today. Queen Victoria's German husband, Prince Albert, was notably fond of patience games. Some game variations have also been called patience, especially in England, Germany, and Portugal. This is also supported by the use of the alternative term "cabale", which originated from the Medieval Latin "caballa", meaning secret knowledge. The card game Solitaire likely originated from cartomancy or tarot as an early form of fortune telling due to how cards are laid out in both practices. However, this was a different game as it used pegs instead of cards. One of the first documented references to the word "solitaire" was in a 17th-century engraving featuring Anne-Joulie de Rohan-Chabot, Princess Soubise, playing solitaire. The origins of the game are a little hazy. The game involves arranging a shuffled deck of cards into a specified order or tableau, no matter the variation. Solitaire is the collective term for hundreds of card games and activities requiring only one person. Step 2: Burn the bootloader in Arduino IDE Connect PIN 10 on the programmer board to any RESET pin on the target.Įxample: Using an UNO to program a Mega (ICSP pins).Connect every programmer ICSP pin except RESET to the equivalent ICSP pin on the target.Note that the orientation of the header relative to the USB port is different on the Nano. Example: Using an UNO to program a Nano (digital and power pins). When the boards are connected, you can proceed with burning the bootloader in Arduino IDE. Option A: Using the digital and power pinsįor each row in the table below, connect the programmer pin to the corresponding target pin. In this case, change the line #define RESET 10 to use a different pin. On some boards PIN 10 may not be available. Note: To use an Arduino AVR board that’s not included in the table below, check the pinout diagrams in Arduino Docs to find which pins to use for CIPO, COPI, and SCK. These are examples of Arduino AVR boards that you can use as “Arduino as ISP” programmers: Although the ArduinoISP programmer sketch will compile for many boards, you may experience issues running it on non-AVR boards. Note: It’s recommended to use a board of the AVR architecture as the programmer. You’ll need female-to-female jumper cables for these pins. CIPO, COPI, and SCK are available in a consistent physical location on the ICSP header. These are the most commonly used pins on Arduino, and you’ll only need six standard male-to-male jumper wires. On many boards (including UNO, Mega, and Nano), these are available in two locations: The easiest way to burn the bootloader to classic AVR boards (UNO, Mega, Nano, etc.) is using a second Arduino AVR board as a programmer, which is the method that will be covered below.ĪVR boards are programmed with the SPI interface (COPI, CIPO and SCK signals). Whether the bootloader has been corrupted or intentionally has been removed, it can be restored by burning (also called, flashing or programming) a new bootloader to the board. It comes preprogrammed on the microcontrollers on Arduino boards. The bootloader is a small piece of software that allows uploading of sketches onto the Arduino board. These pockets act as insulators, preventing heat from transferring efficiently into your pool water.Īnother disadvantage is that upward-facing bubbles are more prone to damage from wind and debris than downward-facing ones. When you place the bubbles facing up, they create pockets of air between them and your pool water’s surface. One of the main drawbacks is that it reduces heat retention and transfer efficiency. By shielding the material underneath from direct sunlight exposure through its reflective properties rather than absorbing it into itself like an upward-facing bubble would do – you’ll extend its lifespan significantly! Disadvantages of Placing Bubbles Upward Lastly, having bubble-side down also helps protect against UV damage caused by prolonged exposure to sunlight over time. This is because when positioned correctly, rainwater will run off more easily instead of pooling on top and attracting dirt or leaves. When placed downward, they create a tighter seal with your pool surface, which minimizes heat loss due to evaporation.Īnother advantage is that placing bubbles down can help prevent debris from accumulating on top of your solar cover. The bubbles act as insulators that trap the sun’s energy and transfer it to the water below. Advantages of Placing Bubbles Downwardįirst and foremost, this positioning allows for better heat retention in your pool water. If you put a solar blanket upside down (bubbles facing upwards), they will trap air between them instead of allowing direct contact between sun rays and swimming pool water surface which results in less efficient heating performance. This position allows sunlight to penetrate through each bubble layer before reaching and heating up pool water underneath. To get maximum heat retention and energy savings, place your solar cover with its bubble side down into the water. One of the most important things to consider during installation is the orientation of the bubbles on your solar cover. Proper installation is crucial to ensure that your solar cover functions effectively and lasts longer. Solar Cover Installation and Proper Orientation Understanding how solar cover bubbles work will help you make informed decisions about selecting a suitable product for optimal performance in terms of energy efficiency as well as durability over time. Some covers may have thicker or thinner layers of material between each bubble, which can affect how much heat is transferred from sunlight into your pool. It’s important to note that not all solar covers are created equal when it comes to bubble function. Smaller-sized bubbles provide better insulation than larger ones because they have more contact points with both air and water surfaces. The size of these air pockets or “bubbles” also affects their function. When sunlight hits these bubbles, it is absorbed by them and transferred to the water below, heating up your swimming pool naturally. The bubbles on the surface of the cover create an insulating layer that traps heat and prevents evaporation, keeping your pool warm and reducing water loss. Understanding Solar Cover Bubble Function This means less water loss due to evaporation, which translates into lower chemical usage as well. In addition to keeping your pool warm and clean, using a solar cover can also save you money on heating costs since it reduces evaporation rates by up 95%. They can be custom-made or purchased off-the-shelf at most home improvement stores or online retailers. Solar covers come in different sizes and shapes to fit various types of pools, from rectangular to kidney-shaped ones. The bubbles on top of the cover are designed to enhance this effect by creating small pockets of air that help retain heat. It acts as an insulator by trapping the sun’s energy, which warms up the water underneath. A solar pool cover is a large sheet made of plastic or vinyl that covers your swimming pool to keep debris out and heat in. Before we delve into the orientation of solar cover bubbles, let’s first understand what a solar pool cover is and how it works. You need to use your fingers to change the movement.
